Mephedrone is to be made a class B drug after a Wales on Sunday story sparked a Welsh MP into action.

It will put the narcotic – known on the street as meow meow, MCAT or meph – on a par with amphetamines.

For all the reasons listed here, this is absolute bullshit.

It’s also clear that the champion of this legislation, Shadow Welsh Minister David Jones, has absolutely no idea where drug problems come from. He doesn’t understand how prohibition:

a) increases the costs of the drug, encouraging adicts to resort to crime to pay for their habit
b) increases the impurities in the drug, as dealers no longer compete on quality but rather on willingness to flaunt the law
c) increases the desire to become a drug dealer as the rewards (higher profits) become much more alluring
d) increases gang violence, as disputes are forced to be handled in the black market

But David Jones didn’t cite any of that, instead his wise contribution reads as follows:

“The problem with it, of course, is the fact that it is not illegal.”

David Jones MP ordering a side order of stupidity to takeaway Genius! You are a brilliant man, sir.

David Jones needs to start advocating the immediate banning of Cigarettes, Alcohol, Rock Climbing, Driving, Fatty foods & Swimming or he needs to kindly shut the fuck up. What an absolute horrible piece of work.
