Video of the day: John Stossel – Free to choose
New John Stossel episode is here, and he’s talking about Milton’s Friedman’s seminal “Free to choose” TV series and book. Although Friedman wasn’t the most principled libertarian, he was always an exceptional speaker and most of what he said was great stuff. Parts 4 & 5 become incredibly frustrating when “professor” Barber shows up to vomit out some particularly ridiculous statist BS

I like how professor statist got flustered with Stossel’s comments about the OSHA chart!
There was an odd thing, though: Stossel twice seemed to refer to authors anonymously; first in the discussion with Johann Norberg, when he quite obviously referred to Naomi Klein, but called her “a Canadian author” rather than by name, and said she had been invited on the show but refused to come; and second in reference to the OSHA chart when he said “but someone has looked at this point when it declined.” That someone was Charles Murray, and Stossel’s point here came straight from Murray’s What It Means to be a Libertarian, but Stossel never mentioned him.
I found it odd that he didn’t seem able to drop these names. Was there a reason?

I would assume for the former, it’s precisely because she wouldn’t come on the show. No free plug for you, bitch.
Not sure about the latter.
Unless there are more general rules that are beyond Stossel’s control…
